Sam is a rising junior at George Mason University from San Antonio, Texas, and is studying Communication with a concentration in Public Relations and a minor in Tourism & Events Management. He attended the Washington Journalism & Media Conference in 2014, returned as an Intern in 2015, served as a Junior Faculty Advisor in 2016, and will return for his fourth year as a member of the Advance Team. Sam currently works in the Office of Admissions as the Social Media Supervisor for the Washington Scholars Program. His other on-campus involvements currently include Alpha Phi Omega, former Secretary for Mason Ambassadors, and author for the Odyssey Online. Prior to coming to Mason, Sam had the distinct honor of participating in many organizations, most notably KSAC News: the award-winning broadcast journalism program at his high school. In the span of four years, he held the titles of News Director, Head Anchor, Assistant Editor, and Webmaster. He also competed against hundreds of high schools and colleges and won various awards for his achievements in journalism, including Second Place for Best News Feature in the state of Texas. In his free time, Sam now enjoys taking the metro to Washington, D.C., listening to music, and catching up on his favorite Netflix series.
