Hillary Aerts-DeVoss

Hillary Aerts-DeVoss is a Certified Journalism Educator who is spending her third summer at WJMC. She’s been advising student media for 14 years at Omaha North High Magnet School and has been obsessed with it since day one. Her students have earned countless honors, including 1st place Best of Show at the 2014 spring NSPA/JEA convention, 2015 Nebraska Journalist of the Year and the 2016 NSPA Wikoff Scholarship.

During her years teaching, Aerts-DeVoss has been a 2006 ASNE Fellow, a 2008 JEA Rising Star and the 2013 Omaha North High Magnet School Teacher of the Year.

Aerts-DeVoss attended Creighton University, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in journalism and a master’s degree in secondary education. In her free time, she likes to hang out with her husband and cat-children, play fantasy football and travel the country in search of America’s best pastry shops.
