Mark Lussier is a Senior at Terryville High School in Connecticut. He attended WJMC in the summer of 2023 and loved every minute of it! His love for journalism was sparked when he was interviewed by a local reporter when he volunteered for Jahana Hayes’ campaign for Congress in 2018. The unmatched energy and spirit from his color group (Purple Powerhouse!) only made him more excited about possibly joining the profession. Mark is incredibly excited to return to WJMC as an intern. He will strive to make WJMC even more enjoyable, while also giving the same kind of amazing experience to other young aspiring journalists.

Leah C. Garofalo is a junior from the suburbs of Philadelphia. In school, she leads her school’s Critics and Awards program (Cappies team), co-founded her school’s Fashion Club, and is on the executive board of the orchestra. Outside of school, Leah loves dancing, exploring her town, reading, and creating music. She hopes to become a journalist in the future, and is immensely grateful for the experiences that WJMC has provided her.

Hailing from Davidson NC, Skylar has always had an interest in journalism. After doing broadcasting journalism in middle school and yearbook throughout highschool, she’s intending to major in journalism in college. In her free time, Skylar enjoys listening to K-pop and Mitski while she works on articles. With a life changing summer in WJMC 2023, Skylar is so excited to come back as an intern.

Aashvi is a rising senior at Big Walnut High School in Columbus Ohio. Her WJMC experience was a major growing experience for her and she still keeps those lessons close to her heart. She loves to read, dance, and is a part of many clubs and organizations in and out of school. Her favorite thing to do out of school is hang out with her bunny and bake! 

Lauren Larson is an avid reader and writer from Colorado, she loves learning new things. Some of her favorite pastimes are reading books, walking her dog, and spending time with friends! Her dream is to someday be a journalist and explore the different areas in the journalism world!

Ellee Guin is a junior in high school from Gainesville, Florida. As a self-growth podcaster and social media creator for her high school’s student government, she loves to learn how media affects the individual as well as the community. She has a part-time receptionist job at the local gym, Gainesville Health and Fitness, as she has a passion for health and well-being. In her day-to-day life, she enjoys hanging out with friends and family, reading, and attending as many school events as possible.

David Caine is a rising senior at Cypress Creek High School in Wesley Chapel, Florida. David has always enjoyed writing, and when he tried his hand at journalism with his school newspaper, he found his love for journalism. This caused him to attend WJMC in 2022, and start an internship with the Best Version Media newspaper. He also enjoys volunteering at a local cat adoption center, tutoring kids in math, and working for a small toy store in his community. He is so excited to return to WJMC to be a part of the staff, and is thrilled to help the incoming correspondants have the same amazing experience he did.

Amber Brown is currently a high school junior at Manor High School in Portsmouth, Virginia. Her WJMC experience was eye-opening, perspective-broadening, and one of the best experiences of her life. She enjoys all things sports, including watching, reading, writing, and playing sports. She aspires to own or work for a large sports publication in the future.
