The Washington Journalism and Media Conference

Welcome to WJMC

George Mason University is the host of the Washington Journalism and Media Conference (WJMC) and each summer welcomes high school student leaders from all over the country as National Youth Correspondents. National Youth Correspondents join the Mason community which includes students and faculty from all over the world. Mason is both the largest public university in Virginia and one of the most culturally diverse universities in the nation.

Mason attracts proven and innovative leaders in communications, media research, new media, and electronic journalism. Faculty members have developed the WJMC curriculum to suit the needs and potential of the nation’s most talented future leaders in the field. The conference curriculum includes hands-on learning with industry leaders from the Mason faculty as well as international media outlets and Washington insiders. National Youth Correspondents will experience an integrated and forward-thinking approach to journalism and media, while acquiring valuable “in-the-trenches” knowledge.

WJMC 2020 Program Update

After careful consideration, the Office of Admissions at George Mason University has decided to cancel the Washington Journalism and Media Conference (WJMC) in-person program this summer. We share in everyone’s disappointment during this trying time.

Please know that all families will receive a full refund of their tuition paid. This will take some time to work through so please look for email communication from the WJMC team in the coming week regarding your tuition refund.

Stay tuned for virtual opportunities to still stay connected to WJMC.

We so appreciate your registration this winter and now your patience as we work through these difficult times. Our office remains committed to your success and hopes to still be part of your journey moving forward.
