YOUTH ADVISORY BOARD

Each year, the WJMC Leadership staff select a group of students to represent the summer program as a part of the Youth Advisory Board (YAB). The YAB meets with staff during the fall to help plan and prepare for the next summer’s Conference. Students who are a part of the YAB are eligible to apply for a small number of highly competitive internship positions and return to the Conference the following year.

If you attended WJMC in the past year and are interested in applying to be a part of the Youth Advisory Board for the next year’s Conference, please contact us.

WJMC INTERNSHIPS

The Washington Journalism and Media Conference offers a highly competitive internship program for students who have attended the program. Eligible students must be alumni of the previous year’s program, must be a part of the Youth Advisory Board, and will go through an in-depth application and interview process. The WJMC interns arrive to George Mason University the week prior to the summer program and get an in-depth look at how the Conference is run behind the scenes. They are an integral part of the summer staff and help us with the many aspects of preparation and implementation of the Conference.

WJMC SUMMER POSITIONS

Each summer, WJMC recruits award-winning faculty and junior faculty from across the country to lead groups of 25 students throughout the week of conference activities. Our faculty are creative, innovative and experienced educators from around the country. Our junior faculty are WJMC alumni currently pursuing journalism and communication degrees. In addition, our advance team is responsible for implementing all logistics during WJMC.
