Chloe Bohannon

Intern, Photography

Chloe Bohannon is a rising freshman at the University of Texas at Arlington, majoring in Public Relations. In high school, Chloe was the Editor-in-Chief of the yearbook. Winning various state awards for her contributions to the photography and design of the book, including 1st Place Journalistic Photo Story and Best in Arkansas for Yearbook Special Coverage Layout. She worked for her school district for two years photographing events for the schools’ website and social media. She attended WJMC 2017 as a correspondent and is excited to return as a photographer this summer.

Alyssa Armento

Alyssa Armento is a junior at Lakeview High School in St. Clair Shores, Michigan. She participates in varsity tennis, student council, National Honor Society, and mock trial. She loves writing and photography. Alyssa is so excited to be able to help out with WJMC as a part of the Youth Advisory Board for 2018 because WJMC changed her life.

Madison Shafer

Madison is a Junior from Legacy High School in Bismarck, North Dakota. She is involved in her school’s National Honor Society, National Art Honor Society, Drama Department, Art Department, Spanish Club, Key Club, and Speech Team, and she works as the Assistant Editor for Legacy High School Uncut Magazine. She also volunteers at many nursing homes and at many child care centers, along with painting murals around her school. She has received many speech awards and holds a position as an All-State competitor and an honorable mention in scholastic journalism feature writing. After high school, she plans on pursuing a career in journalism. She hopes to help make WJMC 2018 the best conference yet.

Riley Runnells

Riley Runnells is a national youth correspondent from Sylvania, Ohio and is entering her senior year at Sylvania Northview High School. Riley plays varsity tennis and is class secretary, Vice-President of Drama Club, a member of the National Honors Society, Leadership Academy, student council, choir, and theatre, and she is the editor for her school newspaper The Student Prints. Outside of school Riley likes to read, travel, and spend time with her family and friends. She is so grateful for her experience at WJMC, and is so excited to pursue a career in journalism after high school.

Alynne Welch

Alynne Welch is currently a senior at Alma High School in Alma, Michigan. She attended WJMC in the summer of 2017 for the first session. Alynne is involved in Student Council, Youth Advisory Council, Above the Influence, Astronomy Club, dance, golf, her school newspaper, and TV and radio broadcasting.

Julian Young

Julian is from Columbia, Md and is currently a senior at Long Reach HS. He serves as Vice President of his class, Editor of the school television program and morning announcements, Treasurer of Alpha Achievers, a member of the football team, and runs three of his school’s social media pages. He attended WJMC 2017 and felt his favorite moment was his breakout session with Alex Rosenwald. He is very excited to be apart of the WJMC Youth Advisory Board as well as preparing for WJMC 2018 !

Faith Lee

Faith Lee is a junior at Spartanburg High School in Spartanburg, South Carolina, where she is an active participant in Young Life and a member of the yearbook staff, lacrosse team, and several service and academic clubs. Faith writes a fashion and lifestyle blog and has a job managing the social media accounts of a local boutique. She aspires to pursue a career in fashion journalism, hopefully writing for a major women’s fashion publication like Teen Vogue. Faith attended the Washington Journalism and Media Conference in 2017 and it provided her with reassurance of her passion for the field of journalism as well as lifelong friends. She’s excited to help next summer’s correspondents prepare for a journey that will hopefully change their lives the way WJMC changed hers.

Casey Sennett

Casey Sennett is a senior at Philipsburg-Osceola High School in Philipsburg, PA. She is the President of Student Council and Academic Decathlon, Secretary of the senior-run freshman orientation group: Mountie Mentors. In addition, she participates in National Honor Society, Key Club, Queen of Hearts, Math Competition Crew, and works as the Statistician for the Girls’ Varsity Soccer team. She enjoys reading and book blogging at Little Red’s Reviews in her free-time. Her experience at WJMC allowed her to step outside of her comfort zone and make lifelong friends. She is eternally grateful for the opportunities she had at WJMC and is thrilled to make the experience as wonderful for future correspondents.

Emma Angell

Emma grew up in Connecticut where she spent time in log cabin in the woods and at a family beach house on the shore. She is a senior at a competitive high school who plays on her high school soccer team, as well as a premier soccer team. Emma enjoys ice cream and dogs, and her favorite color is gray. She attended WJMC in the summer of 2017 and was a part of the Teal Team, where she befriended people from throughout the country.

Taylor Gribble

Taylor Gribble is a proud member of the graduating class of 2018. She attends Renaissance High School in Detroit, MI where she is a staff writer for the Phoenix Rising newspaper. Taylor is a city champion track runner and is active in several non-profit organizations that aim to uplift young women and the community. In her spare time, she enjoys running track, spending time with family and friends and writing. Taylor looks forward to working with WJMC 2018 and recreating the wonderful experience for future journalists.
