Sophia Schatz is a junior at Jenkins Senior High School in Chewelah, Washington, and attended Session 2 of WJMC in 2025. She currently serves as editor-in-chief of The Chewelan yearbook, where she leads her staff in capturing and sharing the stories of her school community. Sophia is passionate about journalism, English, and U.S. history, and she brings that enthusiasm to her leadership and writing. Outside of school, she enjoys golfing and spending time with her 13-year-old cat, Ginger. Sophia’s time at WJMC was a memorable and meaningful experience, and she is looking forward to be a part of the team that will make it just as great for future National Youth Correspondents.
