Rondene Grinam developed an early interest in journalism and media as a writer for her high school newspaper, assistant editor in chief of the yearbook, and a columnist for her city’s newspaper. She was thrilled to be invited to be a National Youth Correspondent in 2011, and has been passionate about WJMC ever since. She interned for the program as a student at George Mason University, returned as a Junior Faculty Advisor in 2014 and 2015, and was a part of the Advance Team in 2016.
While attending George Mason, she took part in a variety of opportunities to build a career in communications. Some of her favorites include her internships in public relations and marketing at Northern Virginia Magazine and the British Embassy in Washington, D.C. She stayed involved in journalism by writing for the university’s newspaper, a magazine for freshmen called the Freshman Focus, and Her Campus GMU. She also enjoyed refining her intercultural communication skills through studying abroad in France and Italy and interning for George Mason’s Center for Global Education.
After graduating with her bachelor’s degree in communication and public relations in 2016, she began her first job as a marketing coordinator for the Integrated Enrollment Marketing office at George Mason, where she gets to use communication to help high school students in their college search. She loves being a part of the WJMC family and is thrilled to be a part of the conference again this year!
