Madison O’Conner

Advance Team Member

Madison will be a graduating senior at George Mason University in the Fall 2017 semester. She will be the first of her family to be completing her bachelor’s degree and hopes to inspire other first generation students to achieve the same. Madison is studying Tourism and Events Management within George Mason University’s School of Recreation Health and Tourism. She has had the unique opportunity to work with the Office of Admissions helping prospective students and working as an events intern. Throughout Madison’s undergraduate career she has been involved in many campus organizations and activities including Greek life, GMU Upcycling club, intramural sports and various dance clubs. She has held leadership roles in the GMU Upcycling club, as a member if her sorority’s executive council and will be a panhellenic recruitment counselor in the Fall 2017 semester. Madison cannot wait to help the students attending the Washington Scholars Program prepare for their future!

Michael Latimer

Advance Team Member

Michael Latimer is a recent graduate of George Mason University and a native of Miami, Florida. A member of the Honors College, he received his Bachelor of Science studying Environmental Science with a concentration in Conservation. A Washington Youth Summit on the Environment alumnus, he always had a passion for environmental conservation and the Washington Scholars Program (WSP). Here at Mason, he has been an intern with the Admissions Office for WSP and the events management team and previously was a Junior Faculty Advisor for the conferences. In the fall of 2016, he attended the Smithsonian-Mason School of Conservation (SMSC) in Front Royal, VA, exploring the ways that science, management and policy address current conservation issues in and out of the field. While at SMSC, he had the amazing opportunity working with the institute’s small animal population on site and was a resident advisor as well. Other opportunities he has had were being part of the Green Patriots, Mason’s club volleyball team, and worked with the restoration of pine rocklands in Miami Dade County. Michael can’t wait to work at the conference and meet all the amazing people!

Brianna “Bree” St. Clair

Event Coordinator & Advance Team Member

Brianna (“Bree”) is an Event Coordinator for George Mason’s Office of Admissions and the Overnight Advance Team Member for the Washington Scholars Program (WSP). In her role as Event Coordinator, she works alongside Selina, the Event Manger, to plan and run all recruitment events for George Mason University. As the Overnight Advance Team Member, Brianna will handle matters that may arise after normal conference hours in addition to facilitating the on-campus logistics for the conference. Brianna earned her BA in Theater with a minor in Tourism and Event Management from George Mason University in May 2015 and is currently pursuing an MA in Arts Management. Brianna can’t wait to work her second conference season with her new WSP family!

Keirsten Robinson

Advance Team Member

Keirsten Robinson is a senior in George Mason University’s Honors College. She is studying Communication with a double concentration in Journalism and Public Relations and a double minor in American Government and Political Communication. At Mason, she is a Mason Ambassador, an anchor for Mason Cable News, a sister of Alpha Omicron Pi, the Executive Secretary of Public Relations for Student Government, and the Vice President of Public Relations for Mason Panhellenic, among other activities. 

She is an intern for the Washington Scholars Program along with George Mason’s Office of Admissions. She has previously interned in the Office of Integrated Enrollment Marketing, and the Office of Strategic Communication. She attended WJMC in 2015, was selected as an intern in 2016, served as a JFA in 2017, and is excited to return as a member of the Advance Team after previously serving as a Transportation Coordinator in 2018! In her free time she enjoys live music, hanging out in DC, traveling the world, and spending time with her WSP family.

Jada McClure

Advance Team Member

Jada McClure is a junior at George Mason University from Mt. Pleasant, North Carolina. She is a Communication major with a concentration in Public Relations and a minor in Journalism. After attending the 2014 Washington Journalism and Media Conference, she worked as an intern in the Office of Admissions at GMU, assisting the Washington Scholars Program with logistics and social media. She is currently Social Media Manager for Northern Virginia Area Health Educations Center (NVAHEC) at Mason. Jada is a sister of the Zeta Tau Alpha (Theta Chi) chapter where she served as Junior Panhellenic Delegate and is also a member of Optimist International in North Carolina. She is very excited to be returning as an Advance Team Member!

Hannah Williams

Advance Team Member

Hannah attended the Washington Journalism and Media Conference as a student in 2013. She returned as a Junior Faculty Advisor for 2015, 2016 and 2017. This will be her first summer on Advanced Team and she is very excited to return and help both WJMC and WYSE in order to give students the same amazing experience she had. Hannah graduated with a degree in Economics and a minor in communication from the University of Toledo.

Camden Layton

Advance Team Member

Camden Layton is a rising senior at George Mason University studying Public Administration. After first attending the conference in 2016, he then returned as a Conference Intern in 2017, and then again as a Junior Faculty Advisor in 2018. His favorite part about the conference is the friendships he has made and those he has been able to watch form. He is involved in many different things on campus, but when he is free you can normally find him in a Dunkin Donuts with his friends. Camden is super excited to be returning to the program again this summer!
