Tina Li

TINA LI

Tina Li is a high school junior in the International Baccalaureate Diploma Program at Granby High School and is currently involved in the process of starting up her school’s student-led daily news broadcast after decades of inactivity.  She is the editor for her school’s Key Club chapter and competes in Future Problem Solving, which she has been involved in for 7 years and has won the states championships four times. In her free time, Tina listens to music and curates playlists on Spotify, hangs out with her friends and their cats, and edits videos to post on her Youtube channel. Tina plans to major in English with a minor in Computer Science at college, and her dream is to be a journalist for the New York Times. She had the most incredible and eye-opening experience at WJMC 2021, and hopes to help make it a wonderful experience for future youth correspondents!

Kate Cassady

KATE CASSADY

Kate Cassady graduated from Saugus High School in Santa Clarita, California in June 2021, and attended WJMC that summer.  Currently, she is a freshman at the University of Missouri studying photojournalism. At Mizzou, she is a photojournalist for the Maneater, the university’s newspaper, and a contributor to the Columbia Missourian, the county newspaper. Kate is also a member of Kappa Alpha Mu (KAM for short), the photojournalism/documentary organization on campus. She is excited to bring her love of photojournalism and her experience with WJMC to future correspondents!

Madilyn Moore

MADILYN MOORE

Madilyn Moore attends the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma in Chickasha.  Originally from Yukon, Oklahoma, Moore represented her state at the Washington Journalism Media Conference during the summer of 2021. Majoring in English Interdisciplinary Writing and minoring in Political Science, she aspires to be a freelance journalist, novelist, and photographer one day. In her free time she enjoys creative writing, reading, and delving into various forms of music and culture. After graduating from USAO, Moore plans on traveling then moving to the East Coast to start her professional career.

Madison Garrett

MADISON GARRETT

Madison Garrett is a high school junior at Saint Saviour High School in Brooklyn, New York. As a passionate writer, Madison has had several articles published in local New York City newspapers voicing the injustices that plague the world. Additionally, as an aspiring broadcast journalist, Madison has co-moderated panels sponsored by The Girl Scouts of Greater New York. In her leisure, Madison enjoys writing, reading, and advocating for what she truly believes in. Attending the 2020 Washington Journalism and Media Conference allowed for Madison’s love for the art of journalism to blossom and she is extremely excited to participate on the Youth Advisory Board for the 2021 Washington Journalism and Media Conference!

Sarah Levy

SARAH LEVY

Sarah Levy is a high school senior in Davis, California. She attended the WJMC in 2020, and the experience furthered her career interests in creative writing and journalism. In addition to writing, Sarah also finds her creative inspiration through singing in the Davis Madrigals and martial arts–she recently earned her 2nd degree black belt.

Grace Rodriguez

GRACE RODRIGUEZ

Grace Rodriguez is a high school junior in the International Baccalaureate program at Coral Gables Senior High School. She’s been involved in her school’s news magazine, Highlights, for three years now. Grace loves writing and photography and wants to become more involved in journalism.

Julia Narvaez Munguia

JULIA NARVAEZ MUNGUIA

Julia Narvaez Munguia is a senior at Isaac Bear Early College High School. In addition, she is a dually-enrolled sophomore at the University of North Carolina at Wilmington double-majoring in communication studies and political science. Upon graduating from university, she intends to pursue a career in journalism. Julia currently serves as president of her high school’s Future Business Leaders of America chapter and is a member of the National Honor Society and UNCW’s Communication Studies Society. In her free time, you can find her working as a Starbucks barista, listening to a good podcast, or enjoying the beach with her pitbull-English pointer mix, DJ.

Logan Dubel

LOGAN DUBEL

Logan Dubel is an aspiring broadcast journalist with a passion for telling stories that matter. Since June 2020, he has served as a digital reporter for OceanCity.com and in November 2020, launched an online newscast, This Week in Ocean City. Since starting his reporting career, he has interviewed local council members and prospective candidates along with public health officials and small business owners. In addition, Logan serves as the news and managing editor of The Gazette, the Franklin High School newspaper. At Franklin, he also works as the public address announcer for sporting events, president of his class, and a member of the internationally recognized mock trial team. Logan first attended WJMC in 2020 and is looking forward to another fantastic experience!

Giovanishka Gonzalez Rodriguez

Giovanishka Gonzalez is a WJMC 2019 alumni from Puerto Rico. Giovanishka was born on July 17, 2002 and is currently attending her Senior year at Ramey Unit School in Aguadilla, Puerto Rico. Giovanishka has worked for local news papers such as El Nuevo Dia and Primera Hora. In her free time she takes to writing poetry and doing sports such as Softball and Martial Arts. Her intended career of study is Investigative Journalism.

Samuel Girgis

Sam is a rising senior at Cherry Creek High School in Denver Colorado. He attended WJMC’s 2019 conference and was part of the pink group. He runs his own photography and videography business and came to WJMC wanting to learn more about the journalism field. Sam is very excited to come back to WJMC as an intern this summer.
