Savannah Behrmann is a rising senior at George Mason University where she is studying Communications with minors in Political Science and Global Affairs, aspiring to be a political journalist. Hailing originally from Nephi, Utah, Savannah fell in love with the opportunities, location, and diversity the DC Metro area has to offer. She was nominated to attend the Washington Journalism and Media Conference in 2013 and the following summer, was 1 of 4 students out of the 250 correspondents to return as an intern. During her first three years at George Mason, Savannah has stayed involved on campus by serving as a Mason Ambassador, working as a reporter for both Mason Cable News and The Fourth Estate, and has contributed to Her Campus and The Odyssey. She is a sister of Alpha Omicron Pi international sorority, where she has served as both the Vice President of Communications and currently is serving as the Vice President of Chapter Development for the Gamma Alpha chapter. Taking full advantage of the opportunities in the DC Metro area, she has served as a Washington Scholars Intern for three years, and served as the Editorial Intern at Northern Virginia Magazine. She was selected to be the Spring 2017 Editorial Intern on the Opinion/Editorial Page at USA Today, where her column on the “Fearless Girl” made the front page of the newspaper. Savannah continues to learn how true journalism is the backbone to a successful democracy, and hopes to one day relay true news to the people on a national and international scale.
