Woods Raynor

Woods Raynor is from Zebulon, NC and is currently a senior at William G. Enloe High School in Raleigh, NC.  He enjoys writing for his school’s newspaper, plays euphonium in concert band, and marches baritone in Marching Band. Woods also enjoys playing ultimate Frisbee for his school’s club team. He had a transcendent experience at WJMC 2017 and can’t wait for WJMC 2018!

Victoria Durgin

Victoria is from Allentown, PA and is currently a senior at William Allen HS. She serves as the President of Allen’s Student Government Association and is the Captain of the Scholastic Scrimmage team, Treasurer of Mu Alpha Theta, and a member of NHS. Additionally, Victoria serves as the News Editor and coordinates the social media accounts of her school’s newspaper, The Canary. Victoria’s favorite memory from WJMC 2017 is listening to Terry and Sulome Anderson speak at the National Press Club. She is excited to bring her ideas to a new year of WJMC.

Maya Loken

Maya Loken is a senior from Pickerington, Ohio. She is undecided on where she will attend college but wants to pursue journalism and nonprofit management. Maya is the Editor in Chief of her school’s newspaper and a proud 2017 WJMC alumna.

Matthew Donato

Matthew Donato is currently in his senior year at Thomas A. Edison High School in Alexandria, Virginia. Matt is a huge contributer to the school’s literary and arts magazine known as Erudite, and he also helps the Edison News Crew, doing everything from scriptwriting, camera work, telepromter, and switcher, graphics. He’s even trying editing but has a lot to learn. Matthew attended WJMC in the summer of 2017 during session one, and he was in the best color group ever, the red group. He has not stopped talking about it since he left on July 14th. Matthew’s favorite memory was being able to get to know all the people in his group and just being able to have fun with all of them. Ever since the conference, Matt has put aside his passion for animal science and is now pursuing a degree in either Communications, Journalism, or Media Studies. Oh, and his first choice is Mason!

Lauren Bunten

Lauren Bunten loves broadcasting. She is a  curious person who is always asking questions, which is why she loves Journalism so much. Lauren is always talkative and full of energy, and she loves getting to know people and figure out their story. She plans on going to the University of Missouri next fall to further her passion for journalism.

Laurel Walls

Laurel Walls lives in Manasquan, New Jersey and is in the graduating class of 2018 at Manasquan High School. She attended WJMC 2017, Session 1 and was in the Lime group. She will hopefully attend Mason one day. She’s very excited to get to connect with more people through the country to help make WJMC 2018 amazing!

Jessika Harkay

Jessika Harkay is a senior at Eagle Valley High School in Gypsum, Colorado. In school, she’s part of National Honor Society and her school broadcast news network. She also designs her schools yearbook cover and manages multiple sports. In addition, she interns with a local TV Network and locally radio broadcasts her school’s sports. She loves sports and hopes to pursue broadcast sports journalism with the Dallas Cowboys. Her favorite part of WJMC was all the life-long friendships she made and being able to first-handedly pursue her passion of journalism.

Jenna Cohen

Conference Intern

Jenna Cohen is a current senior at South Brunswick High School in Monmouth Junction, New Jersey. She was a National Youth Correspondent at WJMC 2017, serves on the Youth Advisory Board, and is now an intern for WJMC 2018! She is currently a three year member on her Student Council, Peer Mentor for freshmen in her community, Student Video Director for the broadcast journalism program at her school, and creator of her political op-ed series entitled “The Rewind.” She is thrilled to return to WJMC as an intern, and is counting down the days until July!

Emily Peacock

Emily Peacock is a current senior at Gardiner Area High School in Maine. She loves researching things when she gets curious, and then loves to write about it to share what she has learned. It is important to her that people know what is going on in the world, and WJMC is a great program for those that feel that way, too. Emily attended The Washington Journalism and Media Conference during the summer of 2017, and she is so excited to help with the upcoming year!

Collin Cope

Collin Cope is currently a senior at Lee High School in Springfield, Virginia. Collin attended the Washington Journalism and Media Conference in 2017 and loves the field of media and journalism. This year, Collin is the lead editor for his high school’s yearbook, The Shield, and he is also heading the publicity team for his school’s fall play. Collin looks forward to being a part of the Youth Advisory Board for the 2018 session of the WJMC!
