She is an active member of the Huntington High Speech and Debate Forensics team. In her free time, she participates in Huntington High’s marching band and reads quite a lot, as she is an avid believer that reading improves one’s writing, which is especially helpful in organizing works for the school’s magazine and speech-writing. Last year, Katelyn was nominated for a position as a Washington Journalism and Media Conference Youth Correspondent that piqued her existing interest in the liberal arts, as well as journalism. Her goal as a Youth Advisory Member is to ensure the same, if not a better experience for upcoming correspondents.

The conference offered an invaluable opportunity: the chance to explore the field of journalism in depth, just outside of the heart of Washington DC. In his free time, Ethan reads, writes creatively, walks around downtown Prattville, Alabama, and spends time with family. Currently, Ethan serves as the editor in chief of his school paper, The Panther Progress, serves as a Students Demand Action ambassador, and is involved with the Montgomery Advertiser as a shadower. Ethan plans to major in Political Science and write for his university paper and/or minor in journalism.

Daniel Greenman

Daniel is a senior at Ridgewood High School from Ridgewood, New Jersey, where he is editor of his school’s newspaper. Daniel loved Carol Guzy’s talk and thinks the conference could have an even bigger impact if some of the people who were her photo subjects or lived in places where she had taken photos came to speak. He had a great experience and thinks that would amplify it even more.

Lauren Casole

Lauren Casole is from Voorhies, NJ and is currently a senior at Eastern Regional High School. In her spare time she dances at Jazz Unlimited as a member of their Senior Dance Ensemble. She loves to travel, spend time with family and friends and shop. Also, she is the Editor-in-Chief of, The Voyager, her high school newspaper. Lauren is thrilled to be a member of the 2019 Youth Advisory Board because her experience at WJMC was so memorable. She attended the conference in 2018 and wants to help upcoming corespondents have the best experience possible.

Since then her mission has been to speak the truth and spread justice throughout the most important form of communication: the press. Besides being a developing journalist, she loves to spend time discovering new music and TV shows. Maria is fluent in both Spanish and English, and she is currently learning German.
