HANNA LEMOS
Hanna Lemos is a senior at Merrimack High School in Merrimack, NH. In 2018, she attended WJMC as a national youth correspondent representing NH. Lemos has been the senior editor for her school’s magazine since her freshman year, and plans to continue her passion of journalism in college next fall. As well as journalism, Lemos is the president of the Random Acts of Kindness Club and takes part in many school events and volunteering. For her, journalism is something she is so passionate about since she loves the idea of reporting history as it happens. She looks forward to being apart of the Youth Advisory Board in order to make the conference better for future journalists, and is so thankful for her experience at WJMC last summer.


ALLISON ALBERTY
Advance Team Member
Allison Alberty is the Assistant Director of Outreach Events and Programs in the Office of Admissions at George Mason University. A proud (almost) double Patriot, she is both a George Mason and Washington Journalism and Media Conference (WJMC) alumna. Allison earned her BA in Communication with a concentration in Public Relations in Spring 2023 and is currently pursuing her MA in Strategic Communication. Outside of work and graduate school, you’ll find her at rock concerts, on a yoga mat, nurturing her growing plant collection, or finding the best new brunch spots in town.


SHJAN CARTER
Shjan Carter attends Harry S. Truman High School in the Bronx, New York. She is a member of her school’s media and communications program, and after graduation, she plans to go to college and major in business while minoring in journalism. Shjan attended session 1 of WJMC 2018, and it was one of her favorite journalism experiences so far. She wants to be apart of the Youth Advisory Board to make sure that the future attendees of WJMC have an even better experience.


KYLIE BERGENSKE
Kylie Bergenske is from the land of the corn: Sioux City, Iowa. She loves photography, and in her free time she’s editing and uploading to her website (kyliebergenskephotography.com). Kylie had the opportunity to attend the Washington Media and Journalism Conference in 2018 and it changed her life. WJMC inspired her to pursue journalism in college, and she’ll be attending the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in the fall of 2019.


EMMA WEINER
Emma Weiner is a senior attending Jupiter High School in Jupiter, Florida. in her spare time, she tutors other students, volunteers at different organizations, and spends time at the beach. Emma plans on studying journalism, communications, or public relations in college. The Washington Journalism and Media Conference was a fantastic opportunity that affirmed her interest in these fields, and she is so excited to be a part of the youth advisory board!


Lucinda Judd was a National Youth Correspondent for WJMC 2018 and is currently a junior at Williamsville South High School, just outside of Buffalo, New York. She hopes to pursue a career in investigative journalism and is currently the Editor-in-Chief of her school’s paper, Out of the Blue. Lucinda is so happy she went to WJMC. She made so many great new friends from everywhere in the United States and found out so much about herself along the way, including greater confidence in who she is. Lucinda is very excited to help out with WJMC 2019 and make it the best experience possible.

Brooke Hass is currently a senior at Pearl City High School in Northwest Illinois. She represented her school at WJMC in 2018. In the future, she plans to study English or political science. In addition to being a coffee addict and cat enthusiast, Brooke is the editor of her school newspaper and yearbook. She is very excited to be involved in the growing family of WJMC and can’t wait to see what the future holds for this spectacular experience!

Alayne Trinko was born and raised in the southwest suburbs of Chicago and is currently a senior at Alan B. Shepard High School. After graduating, she plans to study journalism and communications at a top-ranked university and prepare for a career in broadcast journalism. Alayne is pursuing journalism because the field will allow here to develop her skills as a writer and public speaker. It will also give her a platform from which to serve her country and the world bydelivering the truth to the public.

Ashleigh Jackson is from Indian Trail, North Carolina, and she is currently a Senior at Sun Valley High School. Ashleigh loves journalism because she enjoys talking to people and telling stories, and that is what journalism is about. Ashleigh wants to be on the Youth Advisory Board in order to make WJMC an even better experience.
